Welcome to the Treacle Tarts WI, a vibrant and welcoming group based in the heart of Nuneaton.

Since our founding in May 2014, our mission has been to offer a fun and sociable environment accessible to women of all ages and financial backgrounds. Our journey began with 19 members and has grown to a strong community of 50, thanks to our commitment to inclusivity and community engagement.

Named after a delightful play on Nuneaton’s treacle town legend, our group’s name, chosen democratically, symbolises our collective spirit and our love for fun gatherings and lots of cakes and delicious treats!

As we’ve grown, our activities have diversified to include not just a variety of social events but also several interest groups like ‘The Treacle Darts’ Darts Team,‘The Treacle Bards’ book club and a creative textile group, ‘In Stitches’. These initiatives reflect our dedication to fostering a supportive and inspiring space for women, driven by the WI’s empowering message: “You can be what you want to be.”

Our home in the Chilvers Coton Heritage Centre has allowed us to welcome our growing membership for a decade now, some from the most socially and economically challenged areas, so we aim to keep all our events affordable and our doors open to all.
